Even with the days getting shorter, the sun still does its fair share of work. On Oct. 4th, check out the 2008 Minnesota Solar Tour featuring 70-plus homes, businesses, and institutions throughout the metro and beyond that have incorporated renewable energy. Builders, architects, planners, and homeowners will be on hand to share how geothermal heat pumps, wind turbines, and solar panels can help you become energy independent. 10 a.m.–5 p.m., www.solartour.net.
Speed Bathers
Nearly half of Minneapolitans spend less than 30 minutes in the bathroom each day, according to a 2008 nationwide survey conducted for American Standard. We are less likely to take more than 10 minutes in the shower than elsewhere in the country, but more likely to say we try to conserve water. Probably by taking all those quick showers.
