Das Boot

Boot season is upon us and luckily, we haven’t seen style options like this in years. I don’t know about you, but I’m ready to mix it up. One style I’m embracing in particular is the lace-up boot trend. Inspired by men’s work boots, with a nod to the styles our pre-1920s sisters wore, this trend lives smack in the middle of masculine and feminine. There are a number of twists to this utilitarian style, featuring wedges, contrasting textures, and varying heights. Some of my favorite styles include this menswear-inspired pair by Samantha Pleet, these Chloe wedges for their urban appeal, and the true-to-Minnesota Mrs P. Hicks Canoe Boot. You could also look into trying a pair from Red Wing for their strong, masculine appeal.

A few ways to wear this style:

1. With A Dress: Pair the Mrs P. Hicks canoe shoes with a short, flowing floral-print dress for a playful contrast. This is one way to experiment with the 90s-inspired styling we’ve seen this year.

2. With Skinny Jeans: These Chloe wedges look amazing with a pair of dark skinny jeans, oversized cable-knit sweater, and wool jacket.

3. With Shorts, Tights, and Socks: Play with a menswear-inspired look by pairing these Samantha Pleet boots with high-waisted wool shorts, sheer blouse, black tights, and cable-knit socks. A blazer ties the outfit together.
