Rainy Day Style
The lovely month of May is officially here! While we have been teased with June-like temperatures early this season, we also had our fair share of rain, which can make for tricky style choices. Many people think of rain gear as an afterthought—but I see it as an opportunity to have a little fun with your wardrobe.
What to wear: When it comes to dressing for rain, I like to keep things comfortable and simple: lightweight cashmere sweater, soft denim pant, comfortable socks, and a colorful scarf to add a pop of color.
Tip: Try wearing a scarf in your hair for a fuss-free up-do. You could wrap it around a top knot or try this the trendy turban-style wrap.
How to accessorize:
1. Stay classic and versatile with a trench coat. The iconic coat can be worn for years if you find one with the right fit. If you’re shopping for a traditional style trench, be sure to invest in one that’s well made. If you’re looking to wear a style that is very “now”, try a military inspired trench, or a sleeveless trench.

2. Bring some cheer to rainy days with a graphic umbrella. They come in so many great prints and patterns. I keep a brightly patterned compact umbrella in my purse and have a large, classic umbrella for outdoor adventures and events.

3. Tromp through puddles in style with galoshes that complement your wardrobe. Hunter boots can be worn into the early winter months with the proper inserts, making them a smart purchase for Minnesotans. I love the stylish cropped rain boot for a lightweight option.

Bring on thunderstorm season!
