Spring Beauty

The first day of spring has come and gone and to be truthful, I’m not there yet and neither is the weather! I am in Seattle this week, and the weather here is only slightly better than Minneapolis (It actually snowed here today!). But I know spring is coming, and even though I don’t see it out of the window I can create it in the mirror. Here are some must-haves to try while we wait for the weather to warm up and the snow to melt.

Nars velvet gloss lip pencil in New Lover. Even though (or maybe because) I am addicted to Nars Matte lip pencil in Dragon girl. I really love the fresh look and feel of this gloss lip pencil. It’s the perfect combination of lipstick, gloss, and pencil. I have been using it this week to give every model I’ve worked on a soft, fresh look and it’s looked great on every girl I’ve worked on. Which means it’s a color that would work on everyone!

Benefit Fine-One-One sheer brightening color for cheeks and lips. The combination of pink champagne, sheer watermelon, and soft coral creates a sheer coral pink flush that builds from soft & natural to bright & cheery—just what we need to warm up our chilled winter skin.

Green, more specifically emerald, has been declared the color of the year by Pantone. Even though I am a big fan of green, it’s not an easy color to wear on your face. However, it turns out to be a good color for eyeliner. Here’s a crazy thing though…at Sephora I found that Makeup Forever and Stilla both had a Sparkle Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner (at $23 and $22). I also found the exact same color and similar formula at Walgreens; there they had Milani Ultrafine Liquid Eye Liner in Emerald Glist ($8.79).

For nails, Essie’s got my number when it comes to color selection. A few of my favorites for Spring:

  • Turquoise and Caicos, a tropical aqua
  • Play date, a soft purple.
  • Bikini so Teenie, a cornflower blue

spring color nails

spring nailsBelieve it or not, I have all three on my nails and have gotten a lot of attention, especially about the Play Date (the soft purple).

Lastly, I have been on the hunt for some hunter boots. If I could only decide on the color.

I might have to opt for the yellow, so even when it’s gray and rainy I’ll see the sunshine on my feet.

Here’s to warmer days ahead!
