I Have (Another) New Favorite

I have a new favorite. I know, this happens a lot. But hey, you get to benefit from it, right?

Here’s the deal: Last night I had the pleasure of helping host the Dress Rehearsal benefit, which supported the Boys & Girls Club, specifically to raise funds for supplies for performing and visual arts. It’s a cause close to my heart, and I was able to rave on about amazing fashion, including an iconic pink Chanel suit and a gold Dior confection. Both made my heart race.

But I’ll be honest: most of the time I don’t trust myself to get totally primped beforehand. Once you learn the magical spells that stylists and makeup artists can cast, you’re hooked. Charlie Brackney of Haus Salon had a team of stylists and artists on hand, and Charlie and Allison AuBuchon whipped me into shape—and trust me, I needed it yesterday!

So I can thank Allison for this new favorite: Crosswires Creamsheen lipstick from MAC. I’ve been faithfully wearing bright reds all summer, but this was a perfect complement to last night’s look: She made a slightly smoky eye with amber and plum tones, and then instead of a bright red lip (which probably would have looked garish), she added a lovely pinky-orange lip color. Sort of in the coral vein, but not quite.

Even if “pink” or “orange” makes you cringe, I think you will like it. And if you like Sonia Kashuk’s Rosey Nude lip crayon, this is just one step more toward pink, and I think you’ll love it.

Luckily, I have a bunch of old MAC containers saved up for the “Back to MAC” program: turn in six used containers for recycling and get a free lipstick! maccosmetics.com
