Summer Yoga Series for the Outdoors Enthusiasts

Get out of the studio and into the fresh air

Since our Minnesotan summers are short-lived due to the ever-impending cold, you don't want to waste a single minute outdoors. While biking, running, or rollerblading can easily be done outside (and sometimes have to be), yoga is usually an indoor activity at a studio. However, there are a few outdoor options that you can attend in the Twin Cities, where you can take in the beautiful landscapes, manmade or natural. This list of summer yoga series can help you turn your yoga habit into an outdoor one this summer, if you’re a yogi that loves the summer breeze.

Sunday Morning Yoga in the Park

Start your week with Sunday Morning Yoga in the Park. After the 75-minute class ends at 11:45 a.m., do as the Twin Cities Yoga Cooperative suggests and refuel with brunch nearby before you continue with your day. The location of each Sunday morning class rotates between Lake of the Isles, Bde Maka Ska, Boom Island, the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden, and Father Hennepin. Whether you’re a seasoned yogi or a beginner, practice every Sunday through Aug. 26.

Thursday Sunset Yoga with Twin Cities Yoga Cooperative

If you’re looking to unwind before the end of a work week, do so with Thursday Sunset Yoga. Also run by Twin Cities Yoga Cooperative, these sessions are held at the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden if you prefer to enjoy art versus the natural landscape. As long as you love a great Minnesotan summer sunset, anyone is welcome to join through Aug. 2.

Bend It At Brit's

Take advantage of the chance to participate in yoga rooftop at your favorite British bar. Just three times this summer, stretch like you haven't before at Bend It At Brit's with YogaFit, on June 21, Aug. 30, and Sept. 12. A DJ and bloom gin and tonic specials will be available for you as well.

Not all great yoga comes in a series, so here are two other outdoor yoga events you can't miss:

Rooftop Yoga + Beer at LynLake Brewery: Pay $20 for yoga and a beer. Free chair massages will be available after the class, held on June 23.

Midsummer's Night Party with Goat Yoga: Ever heard of a little thing called goat yoga? At one of these four sessions, exercise with little baby goats running around you, free to play with if you prioritize baby animals over yoga (I know I do).
