Black Magik Woman IV:

Black Magik Woman began in 2015 with a group of five female photographers and has since grown in scale, concept, and popularity. Conceived by Minneapolis creative Connie Mrotek to showcase all-female collaborations and bring a positive perspective to the female and female-identified, and non-binary form, this gallery exhibition showcases the collaborative works of 11 creative teams tackling social issues of today. Showroom Boutique Closing:

After five years of business, Lyn-Lake boutique Showroom is closing. Founded by local designers Kimberly Jurek-Valanzasca and Jennifer Chilstrom in 2013, Showroom has served as an important hub for Minnesota fashion design, selling clothing and accessories by an eclectic mix of local labels. On June 1, Jurek-Valanzasca will open a new concept, The Fitting Room, which will feature many of the same designers. Celebrate the end of an era with the store’s designers during Saturday’s closing party, featuring sips, small bites, live music, and sales throughout the day. Black Fashion Week Kickoff:

Black Fashion Week was founded this spring to showcase fashions by Minnesota independent designers, brands, and retailers of color. The launch party will includes a fashion show featuring designer Jacqueline Addison of Akua Gabby, a Ghana-born designer now based in Minneapolis, and Black Excellence by HWMR (Houston White Menswear), a barbershop and retail and design space based on the North Side. Mill City Farmers Market:

After a winter indoors, the Mill City Farmers Market is back outside every weekend for the season. One of the longest-running farmers markets in the Twin Cities, it features a rotating lineup of more than 60 local farmers, food makers, and artisans in a single marketplace alongside the Mississippi River.
