The week in local shopping includes summer kick-off events, shop anniversaries, and makers markets galore.

Eyebobs Opens at Mall of America:

Less than eight months after debuting its first brick-and-mortar space, within its Minneapolis headquarters, eyebobs is opening its second at the Mall of America. The eyewear brand, which was founded as a line of distinctive, high-quality readers in 2001 by founder Julie Allinson, recently began offering custom prescriptions. The new Mall of America store will feature both prescriptive lenses as well as grab-and-go options such as readers and sunglasses. Read more about the new store at the MNMO style blog. Dugo’s 12th Anniversary:

The Galleria women’s wear boutique celebrates a dozen years of business with an anniversary party—and special guests. Tales from a Forager’s Kitchen Book Party + Signing:

The Foundry Home Goods hosts a launch party and signing for the new cookbook by Johnna Holmgren, the founder of popular lifestyle blog, Fox Meets Bear. The wild forager and herbalist will showcase one of her “foraged libation” recipes and will be fielding question about edible plants and off-grid living. Art-A-Whirl 2018:

Known as the biggest artist crawl in the U.S., Art-A-Whirl is a great opportunity to pick up original paintings, ceramics, and sculptures by local artists—plus wearables and beauty products. This year’s event features pop-up shopping and open studios featuring local fashion and home goods makers galore. Mill City Farmers Market:

After a winter indoors, the Mill City Farmers Market is back outside every weekend for the season. One of the longest-running farmers markets in the Twin Cities, it features a rotating lineup of more than 60 local farmers, food makers, and artisans in a single marketplace alongside the Mississippi River. Excelsior boutiques are joining forces for a multi-location summer kick-off event this Saturday. GRAY Home + Lifestyle is hosting a trunk show featuring St. Paul–based women’s wear line Hackwith Design House, which will showcase its latest ready-to-wear and swimwear collections, a personal appearance by designer Lisa Hackwith, and sips and snacks. Excelsior boutique, Golden Rule, will have free coffee and espresso drinks from Coffee Cart from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., local maker Dinosaur Hampton will be doing custom chain-stitch embroidery, and Lisa Luck of Daughters & Suns will be offering five-minute custom portraits for $20. Hand + Built Spring Pop-up:

The Minneapolis Craft Market kicks off its summer season with Maker Days at the Linden Hills Farmers Market, a weekly, open-air makers market featuring a rotating cast of vendors.
