First Look: Pumpz & Co. Expands

When it opened at Galleria in the year 2000, Pumpz & Co. ushered in a new era in Twin Cities retail–where shoppers could get their hands on the latest designer shoes and handbags from names including Alexander Wang, Stuart Weitzman, Bettye Muller, Tory Burch, Robert Clergerie, Fiorentini + Baker, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Hunter, and Carlos Falchi–without having to fly to the coasts.

Fourteen years later, it was time for an upgrade. Owner Marlys Badzin has relocated her storefront to a larger, 1,560-square-foot space in Galleria, complete with brand-new, custom fixtures by a designer who has also made fixtures for Chanel and Burberry, carpet and furnishings designed in collaboration with Twist Interior Design, and “world travel touches” to evoke a cosmopolitan vibe. In addition to the aforementioned designers and Minnesota heritage brands J.W. Hulme and Duluth Pack, the store is introducing some bags and shoes by 3.1 Phillip Lim; leather shoes and boots by Italian brand Gravati; luxe rabbit, pony, and stud-embellished bags by Corso 11; and hand-signed d’orsay flats and handmade chunky knit bags by Italian line Coye Nokes.

Another addition: luxury outerwear, including fur-trimmed, quilted vests by Christensen Furs and knitted rabbit fur vests and jackets by 525 America. The store has also expanded its selection of jewelry. All things considered, the expansion has helped fill the void left by last year’s closing of accessories haven StyledLife in Galleria.

The public is invited to help Badzin and her staff celebrate the new location at a grand opening party this Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., complete with a draw-your-discount opportunity for at least 10% off one item, DJ, and treats.
