Make Your Marc

Marc Jacobs launched his eponymous beauty line at Sephora almost a month ago, and to be honest, I was a bit overwhelmed by the hype. I mean who doesn’t love Marc Jacobs, he’s such a rule breaker…but a makeup line?

I finally gave in to my curiosity and wandered into Sephora to see if the products lived up to their publicity—and at the price point, I certainly hoped so.

Here’s what I found:

Highliner – Gel Crayon
Another pencil? Really? Is it that different? I have to admit, it’s pretty great!
A highly pigmented twist up, gel crayon. The application is truly luxurious. The product glides on the skin with an intense payoff (no skipping!) and best of all, it sets for longwear. Highliner comes in six wearable shades. I am wearing the Blackquer as I write this and it hasn’t moved since 7 a.m.!

Remedy Concealer Pen
Marc Jacobs’ favorite product. According to Jacobs, everyone boy or girl needs a little remedy concealer. This pen has a palladium applicator tip, which cools on contact, helping depuff the undereye area. This concealer features Remedy Complex Technology with theine (caffeine), collagen, vitamin extracts, and coconut water—all of which help reduce the signs of aging, dehydration, and fatigue. The product comes in two universal shades (Bright Idea and Stand Corrected) that work on most, as well as a versatile shade range. It’s rumored to make you look like you got eight hours of sleep. I think I need two of those!

Enamored Hi-Shine Nail Lacquer
Truth be told, the price tag is a bit off putting ($18!)but the finish is supposedly inspired by Marc Jacobs’ coffee table, which is said to have been varnished 30 times. Nothing short of amazing. I am most fond of the more unique colors (Ultraviolet, Snap, Shocking).

Other noteworthy products:
Style Eye-Con No.7 – Plush Shadow Palette  in Lolita
These shadows are nothing short of buttery and if you are going to spend $65 on a palette I would choose colors you are going to live in.

Genius Gel Super-Charged Foundation
What makes this foundation unique is that it is a gel formula. It’s incredibly lightweight, but can also be layered for more coverage. Comes in 16 shades.

I had the opportunity to work on Marc Jacobs’ runway show a number of years ago and the one thing I am sure of is that Marc is involved in the entire creative process, beginning to end. Turns out the first customer at Sephora when the line launched was none other than Jacobs himself!
