In Transition

While temperatures are steadily dropping, navigating the months of September and October can be tricky fashion-wise. Oftentimes I’m left wondering how to get the most out of my summer clothes without busting out the heavy sweaters before I absolutely need to. Here are a few ways I’m transitioning into Fall Fashion:

1. Waffle Knit Sweater + Maxi Skirt

This one’s really easy. Pair those maxi skirts you’ve been living in this summer with your favorite lightweight sweater. A waffle knit adds a nice contrasting layer of texture when paired with a silk maxi, especially if you’re trying this fall’s hot monochromatic trend. A cable knit or deep-v cashmere are both great options as well.

2. Utilitarian Vests + Everything!

Vests are perfect for fall and the layering-lover’s best friend. I’ve paired my military vest with short sweater dresses, black jeans and a basic white tee, and leather skirt with boots and graphic tee. The options are endless! And adding a little military/utilitarian flair to your basics is always in. The vest even works for dressier occasions, if you’re looking to shake things up a bit.

3. Tights + Shorts

I love the look of wool, velvet, or denim shorts with tights and booties. There are a few ways to off-set the leggy look: First, consider a pair of nicely tailored shorts. It’s the best way to get a more refined look with this trend. A loose, slouchy top balances the look when pairing tights with denim or shorter shorts. I’d also suggest looking into a fitted blazer with this trend or adding a chunky scarf or crossbody bag.
