Fashion's Night Out: Trends

I am so happy to share with you that I’ll be helping to host Neiman Marcus’s Fashion’s Night Out event on September 8! It’s sure to be an evening full of chic, must-have fashion and style. So of course, I’ve been doing a little homework to research fall trends and get ready to help choose the clothing and fit the models for the runway portion of the evening.

Here’s a little unveiling of fall trend number one, which thrills me to the core: GOLD! After having a long-term, monogamous relationship with silver most of my life, I’m finally realizing how flattering gold looks on me—suddenly it feels so luxe and warm in contrast to cool, sleek silver.

These are Valentino heels and they are 100-percent fabulous, no? I love the rounded toe and the bow detailing. Both of those aspects of the shoe also play into the very ladylike looks we are still seeing coming down the runway (i.e. the Mad Men influence). This style is right up my alley, so I’m glad it’s still sticking around. Gold heels will work in the same way that nude will, for the most part—lengthening the leg and putting the focus on the clothing you’re wearing instead of bringing eyes to a dead stop at your feet.

There will be lots of gold hardware this fall, and in particular I’m seeing lots of organic shapes and architectural cuffs. A piece like this works with an evening gown as easily as it does a slouchy white T-shirt and jeans.

Love this Jason Wu clutch. I think clutches always look so chic, even if they are impossible to work with at a cocktail party (exactly where you’d be carrying one). It’s so simple, but just has that little extra something in the corner of the bag. People will want to take a close look at this bag whenever you would carry it.

You know you want to see more trend, partake in the beauty bar, and have some snacks and drinks (Crave, Thom Pham’s Wondrous Azian Kitchen, Smack Shack). Fashion’s Night Out is a great deal—you don’t even need pay an admission fee to get in! Just RSVP to RSVPMinneapolis@neimanmarcus.com.
