Sales + Events Guide for February 14–19

Known for her layered acrylic jewelry, local designer Jennifer Merchant has expanded into sculpture thanks to a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board. Jennifer Merchant: Night/Dazed features geometric sculptures made up of graphic, printed images layered between solid acrylic that invite the viewer to lean in for a closer look. The work is at once whimsical and dark, evoking the depths of outer space. A selection of Merchant’s jewelry—which has been featured in American Craft Council shows around the country—will be on display throughout and available for sale during a trunk show the second night of the three-day exhibition. Opening night reception 7–11 p.m. Fri., gallery hours and jewelry trunk show from noon–6 p.m. Sat., Feb. 18, gallery hours and artist talk from noon–5 p.m. (1 p.m. artist talk) Sun., Feb. 19 @ Public Functionary, 1400 12th Ave. NE., Minneapolis, jennifermerchantdesign.com
