I have been a huge fan of art-historian handbags Post-, and of Elixery lipstick for as long as I’ve been acquainted with them.
Lois Eliason and Katie McShane’s handbags are literally works of art, designed based on whatever period they’re currently obsessed with—not to mention they are made in the USA. I love all the details and quality construction—they are handbags you’ll have for a lifetime (and then some). I have put my sold-out slim-zip riveted clutch through some paces and it still looks brand new!
And then there’s Karoline Wells’ Elixery. This brilliant science mind went to work creating bold, bright, long-lasting lipsticks—that also happen to be PETA-certified. I particularly love Starlet (a perfect Hollywood red) and Lakshmi (hot magenta). And they’re only $18. So, obviously, there are many reasons why I named her to Minnesota Monthly’s Best of 2011 List. They’re products with a conscience—what a beautiful thing.
And now they’ve come together, partnering over the lastest launch from Post-, La Vie En Rose. This spring/summer collection melds inspiration of graffiti, street art, and Parisian style. The totes and clutches were hand-silkscreened by bigtime talent Luci Kandler (formerly of Calpurnia Peach, now part of Faux Poco) and feature giant gold hearts and huge blooming roses—happiness on a handbag.
The Post- ladies and Elixery will debut the collaboration during the Edina Art Fair (at Bespoke Hair Artisans from June 1-3), wherein you’ll choose a rose slim zip bag, get lipstick advice and choose the perfect, vanilla-scented shade with Wells, plus a body shimmer and lip scrub to put in the bag—all for $75 (I don’t think I have to tell you that’s a great deal). And if you can’t make the art fair, the collaboration will be available a second time at the Spark & Hustle Event at the Metropolitan Ballroom on June 7.
