Luxury Garage Sale Coming to Edina

Garage sale season may be winding down for the summer, but this fall, a different kind of garage sale is coming to town. Dubbed the “Rolls-Royce of garage sales,” Luxury Garage Sale is opening its first Minnesota storefront at Edina’s 50th and France district this fall in the former Goodnight Moon space. The Chicago-based startup, which sells a mix of gently used and new high-end apparel and accessories, launched five years ago and built its brand by hosting pop-up shops before expanding into e-commerce and now has two permanent shops in Chicago and one in Dallas.

The expansion comes on the heels of a recent $5 million investment it received earlier this year. If the concept sounds familiar to local shoppers, it should be–Luxury Garage Sale has popped up in town over the past few years via a series of pop-up events at fellow 50th and France retailer Bluebird Boutique.

Only women’s clothing will be sold at the store, though the store will consign men’s clothing and sell it in its online division. The store’s product mix will be split evenly between new and used merchandise, culled from individual consigners around the country as well as stores to get new overstock from previous seasons. These aren’t your typical garage sale items–or prices. Goods currently featured on the website include a Chanel tweed jacket for $795, a caped chiffon Marchesa gown for $1,295, Christian Louboutin pumps for $395, and an Hermès crocodile handbag for a cool $60,000.

Another business opening Labor Day weekend in the former Fashionologie space on West 50th Street is Annika Bridal, a new locally owned bridal boutique that will carry gowns from Reem Acra, Marchesa, and more. In other 50th and France news, Ten Thousand Villages closed last week, and Robert Foote Jeweler moved to a new location slightly south of its previous storefront on France Avenue.
