I know, I know, it’s not even the Fourth of July (or feeling like we’ve had much of a summer), but in fact it is the time in which designers and editors are beginning to think about fall fashion.
Nordstrom has really ramped up a lovely runway show these past couple of years, chock full of designer preview pieces for all to swoon over and save pennies for this coming fall.
The bonus is that Nordstrom donates the proceeds from the event to the Starkey Hearing Foundation, which provides education, research, and hearing technology to hearing-impaired people the world over.
So, without further ado, a video of some of the best looks from the evening. (Clothing credits are below and listed in order of the looks shown on the video.)
Scene One: Chanel blue-and-black tweed sleeveless dress. I have always loved this color combination even though it has long been on the “don’t” list. So happy that designers embrace it too. If Chanel does it, it means we can, too.
Scene Two: Michael Kors cashmere knit wrap, long-sleeved sweater, and wool crepe pants. Still loving the all-camel ensemble. So ’70s chic.
Scene Three: Marni blue-and-black alpaca cardigan and black flare pants. Again, the color combination is so lovely. Interesting to see flares back on the runway. Pant silhouettes are anything goes right now, from cigarette-slim to super wide leg.
Scene Four: Gucci teal fur shrug, grey tweed two-button blazer, and black wide-leg pants with dot pinstripe. Another ’70s influenced outfit. Love the spin on the blue-and-black color palette.
Scene Five: Missoni beige/green wool alpaca bell-sleeved Bois cardigan, green/blue/purple long-sleeved V-neck Lodovica sweater, and blue/gren wave skirt. Missoni didn’t disappoint with its trippy color combos for fall; the color palette feels almost spring-like, which is a fun twist.
Scene Six: Akris crimson jersey mock-neck dress. We’re definitely going to see some deep reds and pinks for fall. Very sleek.
Scene Seven: Marc Jacobs burgundy/navy large-dot dress. Marc Jacobs is my favorite. So retro and female-body-friendly, plus I love polka dots. He is my designer of choice right now.
Scene Eight: Valentino ivory long-sleeved ruffle-front dress. This was a favorite among the Minnesota Monthly crowd. So wearable! And we all love a dress with sleeves.
Scene Nine: Givenchy purple beaver bomber jacket and black cropped leggings. Notice the strong shoulders…who’s ready for shoulder pads?
Scene Ten: Oscar de la Renta navy/ivory cropped ribbon tweed jacket, navy sleeveless ruffle-front bloud, navy/multi tweed printed swing skirt. LOVE this polished-girly style. I absolutely love Oscar, almost all the time.
