Omforme Debuts Vintage Designer Clothing Collections

There’s something undeniably timeless about vintage clothing. Designers constantly mine looks of the past for inspiration: For their spring 2015 collections, Gucci designer Frida Giannini referenced the early '70s, with sailor jeans and gold bullion-embroidered bandleader jackets, while Louis Vuitton designer Nicolas Ghesquière took a cue from the late '60s, with crushed velvet pants, leather mini skirts, shaggy shearling, and pointed collars.

Designer vintage sellers offer the best of the past. In L.A., Decades has been the go-to for vintage aficionados for years. In Minneapolis, we have Mona Williams and June Resale. Omforme, the Lowry Hill, restyled-vintage home furnishings store from interior designer Carter Averick is the latest to get into the designer vintage market, thanks to the involvement of vintage collector Dana Greenberg. Greenberg, a Minnesota native, was a stylist and costume designer for 14 years in L.A., where she co-owned Decades and Decades2, and costumed the likes of Madonna, Aerosmith, George Michael, and New Kids on the Block. Over the years, she amassed a collection of vintage designer clothing, and began selling on eBay in 2000. This marks the first time the stylist is making her collection available to Minneapolis shoppers apart from eBay.

Since recently returning to her home state, she’s uncovered her collection of vintage dating from the ‘20s to the ‘80s from names including Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent, Jean Paul Gaultier, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Pucci, Prada, D&G, and Fendi —two full storage units worth, all in excellent condition. Averick says he plans to pepper in new selections and the collection sells down. Current offerings include Chanel leather jackets, a pleated Gaultier maxi skirt, a D&G bodycon bustier dress, and lush fur coats.

The store kicked off the new addition last weekend with "Vintage Luxe," a shopping event complete with an in-store fashion show, refreshments, and hors d'oeuvres:
