Holiday Hair

Last Wednesday was a pretty magical day, so I just had to blog about it. In a rush-hour stampede of New Yorkers I was whisked out the doors of Rockefeller Center just in time to see the official holiday tree lighting ceremony! I stopped to appreciate the best gift I will be given all season: knowledge and inspiration.

I was given the opportunity to spend a few days with my hair hero, Patrick Cameron. In the professional beauty industry we have celebrities of our own—artists that are the best of the best. Patrick is THE long-hair-styling superstar. He traveled from London to teach an intimate group at The Wella World Studio.

His mantra of the week was “to create lush and sexy hair that almost appears as if she did the ‘do herself.” Patrick has an explosively theatrical personality that is quite contagious, so I’ll be practicing his native New Zealand accent along with my new found skill set. He kicked off the week’s events with live models, creating soft, textured looks that are suitable for holiday soirees, business parties, and weddings alike.

Over the next couple of days my coworkers and I followed Patrick’s meticulous directions to first create the perfect ponytails, and perfecting our backcombing and bobby pin usage. With a strong focus, we persevered through the rigorous up-styling syllabus. While perfecting each glam look, I began to think of who we could give the gift of grand hair to upon return. Which holidazzled style will you wear? Here are a few to get you inspired:
