Made in Kind

“Clothing with a soul.” That’s the simplest way to describe the newest project by Anthropologie called “Made in Kind.” The series brings shoppers limited-edition pieces from up-and-coming designers who created items specifically for this special Anthropologie project. Each brand featured embodies a similar spirit of creative entrepreneurship, quality materials and design, plus a unique point of view.

What’s so great about this project is how we’re invited to learn more about the creation of these limited-edition pieces. They’ve introduced each brand by giving us a glimpse into the creative process and philosophy behind each label. For example, Imogene + Willie, a Nashville-based denim brand, talks about their craftsmanship, classic design aesthetic, and the attention to detail put into each piece. Ace & Jig provides a closer look at their textile inspirations, and fresh talent Mia Christopher shares her approach to printmaking.

A few of my favorite pieces include this coat from Ace & Jig, a pastel Dusen Dusen Peter Pan collar dress, Imogene Slim Jean, and Hi There from Karen Walker Tiered Tulip Dress. Not only are they great transitional pieces for fall, they’re classic enough to wear for seasons to come. You can read more about the designers behind the brands and their creative process in Anthro’s The Magazine.
