Mode Comes to Woodbury

East Metro residents looking to find boutique styles at budget-friendly prices will have a new shopping destination come April. That’s when Mode, a Fargo-based discount women’s retailer, is slated to open a new location in Woodbury. Mode currently has eight locations across North Dakota, South Dakota, Kansas and Minnesota, including stores in Eagan and Roseville.

The Woodbury store will be owned by Patty Miranda and her daughters, who opened the Roseville location in August 2014. Picking a location for their second store came easy to the self-proclaimed “St. Paul girls.”

“We’re all from the east metro, so we kind of were looking for something in that area,” Miranda said. “Woodbury has a lot of stuff happening, little boutiques opening out there. It’s becoming more of a shopping destination again.”

The new store will be roughly 500 square feet bigger than the Roseville location, and will be situated next to Patina in Woodbury’s City Centre development.

Mode specializes in discount designer jeans, but also carries tops, scarves, jewelry, handbags, and other accessories depending on the time of year. Miranda said her mission with Mode is to “stay away from the malls,” and bring a boutique experience to customers who aren’t used to shopping in a boutique setting.

“The people that come into Mode, they love our stuff because they say its different,” Miranda said. “It’s not the stuff you can find in the mall.”

Mode was the first retail venture for both Miranda and her daughters. Miranda originally comes from a finance and accounting background, while her daughters hold full time jobs outside of the store. “Coming in and helping with the store is kind of like their stress reliever,” Miranda said.

The store’s new location will open this Friday, April 10. To celebrate, the Woodbury Mode will give a free pair of jeans to the first 20 customers each day during the opening week.
