The festivities kicked off last night with a lighted holiday parade and cookie frosting party and continue throughout the weekend. Cheer on the Steele County Blades junior hockey team tonight as they take on the Hudson Crusaders, enjoy a traditional Norwegian meatball supper and Sounds of Christmas concert by the Steele family tomorrow, and attend the opening of the Owatonna Art Center’s Christmas Memories exhibit on Sunday.

Stop by the Orphanage Museum for An Orphanage Christmas on Saturday and Sunday to discover what life was like for children at Minnesota’s only state-run orphanage during the holidays. Continuing with the historic theme, take a trip to the Village of Yesteryear on Friday or Saturday to enjoy the beautifully decorated Dunnell House, live music, soup and chili supper, cookie decorating and artisan market. There will be activities for kids and a visit by Santa and Mrs. Claus as well.

While you’re in Owatonna, support local businesses downtown with your shopping dollars during the Holiday Shopping Stroll. Enjoy special promotions—including $1,000 in gift certificates that will be given away—and extended hours at many stores.
