Twin Cities Pride Returns This Weekend

Twin Cities Pride is back and bigger than ever. For the next few days, hundreds of thousands of people will fill the streets of the Loring Park neighborhood and beyond to celebrate GLBTQ pride and the right to love whoever the heck you want—pretty awesome, if you ask me.

The festivities kick off with a handful of events early in the week, but actress and comedian Lily Tomlin gets the ball rolling Thursday when she’ll perform at Orchestra Hall. Next, Friday is host to a whole bunch of awesome events, from the 8th Annual Fruit Bowl to a documentary on Matthew Shephard—a young gay man murdered in the late ‘90s in rural Wyoming—whose story has sparked important conversation for nearly two decades.

Finally, the weekend arrives where you can see live concerts, a Big Bad Burlesque show, paint the town red at Pride Crawl and my personal favorite: get married right in the heart of it all either Saturday or Sunday. (Thanks, Minnesota, for being the 12th state to legalize same-sex marriage—you’re seriously the best.) Also, why is this the first time I’ve heard of the all-female-run brewery, Sidhe Brewing (pronounced “She”), in East St. Paul? They’ll be hosting Ladies on Vinyl Saturday night in their taproom, and you can bet your bottom dollar I’ll try and be there.

No matter your sexual orientation, love is love—so let’s celebrate this weekend at Twin Cities Pride 2015.
