20th Annual Art-A-Whirl in Northeast Minneapolis

There are a number of reasons why Northeast Minneapolis was named the Best Art District in America, but one part of it is the area’s biggest annual event: Art-A-Whirl. Now in its 20th year, this is the largest weekend-long open studio tour in the country, attracting some 30,000 people, with more than 600 local artists displaying their work in more than 50 locations, including studio buildings, art galleries, businesses, and homes. By attending, you have the unique opportunity to tour private studios, talk with the artists, watch them at work, and purchase pieces directly from them.

And since Art-A-Whirl is celebrating a big milestone, there will be special events, including demonstrations, projects, activities, events, games, and performances added to the weekend festivities. Look to make your own art, watch interactive performance pieces, visit the animation station, snag a painting in a giveaway, and much more.
