A Fur Trade Rendezvous at Cannon River

Published:

If you listen closely this weekend, you may be able to hear the sounds of a fiddle echoing from the secluded banks of Cannon Falls, Minn.

From May 23-27, music and aromas of the early 1800s will waft through the air as the Twin Cities Muzzle Loaders hold their annual Cannon River Rendezvous. With a backdrop emulating the pre-1800s, the reenactment of the fur trade is a place to see history come alive. Overflowing with demonstrations and competitions of period skills and lifestyles, including primitive archery, tomahawk throwing, black powder firearm shooting, campfire cooking, and bag weaving, this is a patriotic rendezvous for all ages.

The non-profit organization strives to promote not only the interest of and participation in the collection, shooting, and building of black powder firearms, but also the preservation of patriotic and land pride. Head to the campground on Memorial Day for a service to honor those who have fallen serving our country, and participate in the first annual benefactor’s auction, bidding on handcrafted items to ensure the future of the rendezvous at its current beautiful site.

See history come to life in a fun, family-friendly way!
