Food & Wine Experience: 20 Years

Calling all food and wine lovers: This weekend is just your ticket for everything from Asiago to Zinfendel. Make your plans to attend the 20th anniversary of the Minnesota Monthly Food & Wine Experience, March 1-2, at Target Field. Tickets are still available ($75 in advance, $80 at the door). The numbers help tell the story. More than 200 vendors will be on hand offering samples of some of their most creative culinary creations. Vintners will also be pouring more than 350 fine wines, and many craft beers, all within the comfort of the Metropolitan and Legend’s clubs of Target Field, which only adds to the event’s appeal. This will be the fourth year that the show will be conducted at Target Field. I know it doesn’t feel like it, but spring training has begun, and warmer weather is on its way. Enjoying the wonderful views of the baseball diamond, and the Minneapolis skyline, only remind visitors that baseball can’t be too far off.

For those wanting to learn a bit more about wine, I would suggest you attend the Sunday wine seminar, which begins at 11:45 a.m. This particular seminar offers attendees a chance to understand wine produced the up-and-coming region of Washington state. What makes them so special, and how do they compare to wines from other popular regions? Come find out during the seminar and blind taste tests. It’s a great way to learn, not only about Washington but some of your favorite terroir as well. You have to buy a ticket ($25) in advance, though; Saturday’s seminar is already sold out.

For a very special evening, I would save the date this Friday for the special Grand Red Tasting at the W Minneapolis. If you are interested, I would book now because these tickets really do go fast ($90 online, $95 at the door). During this intimate event, you’ll find high-end red wines from nearly every wine region. It’s a unique opportunity for the real connoisseur.

The Food & Wine Experience the most delicious weekend of the year. But make your plans soon, as tickets are selling fast. Join us in celebrating 20 years!
